(More customer reviews)I bought three of these (western digital WD5001AALS) drives for my XP machine. Two of the drives go into a NexStar esata drive enclosure, which I have configured for RAID1 (mirror) and use as my boot drive. I decided after my original boot drive died, to go RAID1 and skip all the hassle involved in rebuilding a system (install operating system, drivers, updates, anti-virus, network, mail, applications, restore data, etc). Now when a drive dies, I just pop in another and let the controller rebuild the mirror set. That's where the third drive comes in. It's just sitting there, an inexpensive yet fully functional 'spare tire'. I run these drives hard; lots of scanning, downloads, and defragmentation going on. No problems.
