(More customer reviews)I have used IOGear KVM products for years, and find that they are the best value for the money.KVMs are quirky critters to begin with, but IOGear products have always behaved much better than the other products I have worked with,which include Belkin and D-Link.(Note that this applies only to the consumer, or workstation level products, and not datacenter KVM products, which are a different topic altogether)
When I needed a KVM for home, I immediately went to the same brand and model that I have used reliably at work for quite some time... the GCS1734.
The GSC1734 comes with all required cables (a huge expense if purchased separately).It will switch audio and USB devices as well.It is easy to install and use, although documentation is minimal and the web site is not very helpful should you have questions.
I ordered the package with the wireless keyboard and mouse because I have always wanted a wireless keyboard, but have found that they do not play well with KVM's.I figured if I got one that IOGEAR packaged with their KVM, it had to work, right?
Wrong!Save your money and just buy the KVM.The keyboard and mouse were disappointing, they had a cheap/flimsy look and feel, and were a waste of money.I never could get the keyboard to work right with my setup (1 XP desktop, one DELL Docking station, one Vista box, and one Linux server) Save your $$$ and get the KVM, and a good quality wireless mouse.Accept the fact that if you want a KVM you have to settle for a wired keyboard.(Why are all decent keyboards these days wireless??)
